The Pollinators
_

DARTS at The Point, Doncaster, May 2023

The Pollinators was a sensory exhibition aimed at 0-5 year olds and their families, celebrating pollinating insects and ancient folk traditions around bee-keeping.  The exhibition was created with families whose early years experience had been impacted by the social effects of Covid, and aimed to encourage a sense of sharing, play, confidence and exploration.

Inspired by the tiny pollinators who help produce our food and flowers, from the honey bee to moths, wasps and beetles, the work explored the meaning of pollination, - sharing, transferring knowledge, play and reflection. In a series of interactive installations visitors were encouraged to engage their senses through soundscapes, light and shadow installations, hands-on activities and a making space.

The work was informed by workshops with early years families prior to the exhibition.
