Christmas Carol
_
Literary and Philosophical society, Newcastle, 2019
Working with designer Imogen Cloet we created a large papercut christmas tree and a series of pop-up books for November Club’s ‘Christmas Carol’ performances at Newcastle’s beloved victorian library, The Literary and Philosophical society.
The books and tree were developed within community workshops, with the charactors featured in the papercut tree nominated by visitors to the library who recorded their favourite book charactor. When visiotrs returned they found their nominee recreated in paper and swirling out of a large paper book.
“Their endeavours went far beyond the series of performances. An enrichment programme involved schoolchildren and community groups and their creations can be seen in the Lit & Phil over the festive season. Bethan Maddocks’ and Imogen Cloet’s beautiful Christmas story tree really shouldn’t be missed.” David Whetstone, Lit and Phil Blogger
